Gamston Wood near Retford

This bridlepath provides an opportunity to enjoy the countryside. It passes Gamston Wood which is an Ancient Parish wood mentioned in the Domesday Book. Gamston and the neighbouring Eaton Wood are both important for their trees, flowers and woodland birds. You will see grass margins and grass fields that have been sown to protect the woods and provide additional wildlife habitats. The hedges are being restored and managed for the benefit of birds and insects.
