Country Walk Summary

Brackenborough Hall near Louth

This open access site shows the extensive remains of Brackenborough deserted mediaeval village with the outlines of sunken roadways and tofts - the area of house and garden. There is also some ridge and furrow created by ploughing with oxen. Most of the grassland is grazed although part is taken for hay. There are some flowers as well as a variety of grasses. The large pond was dug to provide clay for the bricks for the house. Dogs should be kept on a lead as cattle are often grazing. Educational access is also available on this site.
