Plaistow Bunglow near Barnstaple
This short permissive path stems from the existing public footpath running through the holding and provides the opportunity to walk up to and around an Iron Age enclosure. The field containing the enclosure is being managed as pasture under a Countryside Stewardship Agreement to protect the enclosure and any below ground archaeology in the surrounding area from further damage by ploughing. Over the next few years selected hedges and hedgebanks will also be restored under the Countryside Stewardship Scheme helping to retain the landscape character of the area as well as providing benefits to wildlife. The hill top location of the enclosure also affords marvellous views of the surrounding landscape.
