Ad Gefrin near Wooler
The historic site ''Ad Gefrin'' is located North West of Wooler, just off the A697. The National Park and the historic site Yeavering Bell are in the immediate vicinity. Ad Gefrin was the site of the Anglosaxon kings in the 6th and 7th centuries. In the future footprints of the buildings will be displayed on the ground. The footpath allows views onto the disused quarry, which is now acting as a wildlife habitat.
