Nunnery Farm near Castle Hedingham
You are welcome to walk across this area of hay meadow adjacent to the River Colne. Formally used for arable production, this site has been restored to its original use as a hay meadow. It will be managed by traditional methods to enhance its landscape and wildlife interest. The area of open access offers walkers from Castle Hedingham and nearby villages a peaceful walk next to the River Colne. The meadow floods regularly in most winters, bringing nutrients onto the land. Cricket bat willows have been established on the site as they are well suited to the high water table in the area.
