Country Walk & Ride Summary

Malt Shovel Farm near Stafford

This is a pleasant walk through arable, grassland and grazing fields. Small farmland fields are present and traditional hedgerows can be seen along the walk. Part of the walk follows a meandering brook, and enters a field that is currently being managed under HLS to restore the grassland towards a more species rich semi-natural grassland. There is also some evidence of ridge and furrow present in the larger grazing field. The route provides a pedestrian link that facilitates a circular walk for villagers and visitors from the village of Church Eaton. The route also serves to facilitate access to the towpath of the Shropshire Union Canal at High Onn Bridge.
