River Meadow Farm near Downham Market
Enjoy these permissive footpaths, which link to existing rights of way to allow the creation of a series of circular walks, exploring the countryside around the historic village of Hilgay. The paths, provided under a Higher Level Stewardship agreement, cross cropped arable land managed under a range of options intended to benefit populations of farmland birds. Many of these species, such as skylark and yellowhammer, have declined in recent decades, with conservation efforts now being made to reverse the trends.
