Dale Farm near Grindon

The paths cross through farmland of unimproved grass and herbs being grazed by a, rarely seen in these parts, herd of Guernsey cows. woodland shelters the farm and blends into a dramatic undulating landscape with limestone cliffs, hanging over the Manifold SSSI wooded valley. The land has been entered into a Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) scheme, which will pay the farmer to manage the land in a way which enhances the landscape and encourages species diversity.
