Country Walk Summary

Wadley Hill Farm near Beckley

Wadley Hill Farm is providing a network of permissive bridleways under the Environmental Stewardship Scheme. Part of the bridleway network will be available for use in spring 2008. Two additional permissive bridleway routes will open in spring 2009. These permissive bridleways provide off-road routes for horse riders through attractive farmland between Elsfield and Beckley. Riders will be able to see wildflower meadows that are being created in previously ploughed fields, areas sown with small-seeded plants to provide food for wild birds, and hedges that are being restored. The permissive bridleway crossing the arable field next to the Bayswater Road, follows the course of the Roman road which ran between the Roman towns of Alchester (near Wendlebury) and Dorchester. Please take all litter home with you. Keep dogs on leads.
