Castle Common near Challacombe

This Permissive Open Access covers the south-facing hillside of Castle Common which lies approximately 1.5 miles south east of Challacombe at the west end of the Exmoor National Park. Visitors may walk between The Tarka Trail, which passes around the eastern boundary, and Shoulsbarrow Castle, an Iron Age fort, on the western boundary. From the hillside extensive views across Devon to Dartmoor and the west coast may be enjoyed. From Spring to Autumn, sheep and cattle graze the hill.
