Hayborough Farm near Maryport
This is a walk through ancient broad-leaved woodland and farmland. The walk passes by the River Ellen and links up with Public Rights of Way in the woods and tracks that lead to Maryport and Dearham.
In the wood during spring you will see a carpet of bluebells and other woodland ground-flora, and you will hear the many woodland birds that live here. In the farmland look out for the following birds:- Curlew, Lapwing, Grey Partridge and Redshank. These may be seen feeding and sheltering in the field margins, corners and special wild-bird seed plots that the farmer has located around the farm.
