Broad Ecton Farm near Ashbourne

Broad Ecton farm is a traditional hil farm on the dar western side of the Peak District National Park. It has great diversity in the form of archaeology and the associated geology, wildlife and flora and spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. The farm sits wholly in the Ecton Copper Mines Site of Special Scientific Interest and consequently has features associated with its mining history still very evident and well protected. It also includes part of the Hams and manifold Site of Special Scientific Interest. Many of the features can be easily seen from the permissive access route and open access area which also adjoins the Countryside and rights of way (CRoW act) open access area of the SSSI. Ecton copper mines is also designated as a Scheduled monument.
